In Neopets, you can build and customize a home for your virtual pet.
Every pet, even the virtual ones, needs a home. In Neopets, launched in 1999, not only can you build and customize your own virtual pet, but you can also construct a home for your pet. Although some users label Neohomes, as they are called in the program, as a waste of time and virtual currency, building a Neohome can further extend the challenge of creating a virtual pet and a virtual world. Neohomes can range from extravagant 75-room palaces to simple one-room shacks and can be furnished with exchangeable amenities. Any user can build and customize a Neohome, as long as she has enough currency.
Instructions
1. Click on the "Customize" tab on the Neopets home page, and choose the option for "Neohomes." Select the option for "Create a New Neohome" to apply for a building permit.
2. Select and purchase the type of land you want for your Neohome. The prices for land vary from 1,000 Neopoints in Neopia to 25,000 Neopoints in Faerieland. It may take up to 24 hours for the request for land to be approved. This will grant you a five-by-five grid of land where you can build your Neohome.
3. Click the "Add/Remove Rooms" option in the Neohomes menu, and select the section of your grid where you want to build a new room.
4. Select the building material from the drop-down menu. Materials range in cost from cardboard, which is 150 Neopoints, to tatami, which is 70,000 Neopoints. Select which direction you want the door of the room to face (north, south, east, west), and then click the "Build It" button.
5. Continue adding rooms to your grid in the same manner.
