Giga Pet Tips

Giga Pets first hit the scene in the late 1990s, and are extremely popular with teenage girls. The game was created by Tiger Electronics, and included several pets like the Digital Doggie, Baby T-Rex and Compu Kitty. When the game was re-released n 2006, more pets such as a dragon lizard, pup and bunny were added to the game. The object of the Giga Pet game is to successfully care for the pet and tend to its health, hunger and energy needs--much like a real pet. Tamagotchi is another pet simulation game that is very similar to Giga Pets.

Feeding and Caring for Your Giga Pet

Giga Pets like the Digital Doggie need to be fed one bowl of food each day. Overfeeding through snacks or extra bowls of food causes your Digital Doggie to gain extra weight and become unhealthy, so keep tabs on how many times the Giga Pet eats per day.

Underfeeding the Giga Pet can also have negative consequences like a decrease in overall health. Health is seen in a point value, and the ideal score to maintain is around 100 points. Going over 100 points can actually be detrimental to the pet's health, so don't over shoot the score by trying to make the pet "extra healthy."

You also care for the Giga Pet's energy needs. The Digital Doggie needs to be put down for a nap three times a day, and its bedtime is usually 9:30 p.m. Sending your Digital Doggie to bed any later than this time can decrease your health score, so maintain the sleep schedule to keep the Giga Pet at optimal health.

Training and Discipline

Like real pets, Giga Pets need to be trained and disciplined. For Digital Doggies, you can successfully train it by teaching it tricks once each day. Afterward, reward the pet by feeding it one snack. A discipline button is available for use on the Giga Pet device, but using it can bring down the pet's health and attitude, so training through daily tricks is a better option to use with your pet.

Make sure to not over-reward your pet by giving it more than two snacks a day. This can also bring down the pet's health and cause it to gain weight. Keep in mind that care and training for the Digital Doggie is very similar to how you would care for other Giga Pets like the Compu Kitty, so use these general tips for them as well.
