Get A Job In International Adoption

Having foreign language skills is a bonus for adoption agencies looking for new employees.


Working in the field of international adoption is a rewarding career path. Career options include working as an international adoption coordinator or adoption consultant, which will allow you to work one-on-one with hopeful adoptive parents. In order to begin a career working in international adoption, you must obtain the education you will need in order to be considered for an entry-level position.


Instructions


1. Enroll in college. Those who are interested in working in international adoption must obtain a bachelor's degree in social work or a similar field. A master's degree is preferred for some positions like adoption consultant.


2. Intern with an adoption agency while you are still finishing up your B.A. Though internships are not normally paid it will give you relevant hands-on work experience and it could lead to a full-time job with that agency when you graduate.


3. Network with adoption agencies. Contact the human resources department to see if the agency is hiring. Not all job opportunities are advertised. However, the human resources department handles all hiring and will be able to help you if there is an opening.


4. Submit your resume to keep on file. Even if the adoption agency is not hiring, ask them to keep a copy of your resume for consideration for any upcoming positions.
