Rescue A Pug

Pug Puppies

Pugs are lovable and obedient. They make great companions and are one of the best pets to have around children. Having a pug takes on a lot of responsibility however. It can get expensive to take your pet to the veterinarian regularly, but it needs to be done. Pugs tend to get skin problems rather easily and need to be examined for mange or other skin disorders. Pugs also need to be inside pets since they have a hard time breathing when it is above 80 degrees outside.

Instructions

1. Donate your time to a pug rescue club. One of the best ways to help the rescue club is to search shelters that have pugs that they are going to put to sleep if they don't go within the next few days. Sometimes you can get connected with the shelter's workers and they will call you when a pug arrives. In most cases the pug will be an adult instead of a puppy, but there are some cases where an owner doesn't want the litter.

2. Offer office supplies to the Pug rescue organization. The littlest things help any rescue club. You can offer anything such as envelopes, stamps, paper, business cards, or phone cards.

3. Gather used dog supplies. If you had any dogs in the past and don't need the supplies, then you can offer them to the pug rescue organization. Talk with neighbors and friends in order to have them do the same. Pugs will not need large beds, but make sure the beds are clean. If you have other supplies such as food dishes, toys in good condition, shampoo, and new combs or brushes. You can also donate harnesses, but stay away from leashes since pugs don't breathe as well with a leash tugging at their necks.

4. Foster a Pug. If you are able to and have space you can foster a Pug until they get adopted from another person or family. If the pug is too old or has had an abusive past, it could turn on children. Also, older pugs tend to lose their eyesight or get cataracts that prevent them from seeing very well. If the child grabs at them suddenly it could scare the pug and they could bite.

5. Adopt a pug. By adopting a pug you will be offering a new home to a dog that would otherwise be left without a real owner. The pug will adapt to you and your surroundings and will become one of the best pets you ever had.
