Get Rid Of Fire Ants Indoors

Fire Ant

Fire ants are a particularly annoying brand of ants. Fire ants have stingers on their abdomen that releases a poison which burns on the skin. If someone has an allergic reaction to the particular poison, immediate medical attention is needed. Getting rid of fire ants, especially indoors, can be somewhat harder than getting rid of other types of ants. However, with these helpful tips you will be well on your way to getting rid of those annoying pests.

Instructions

1. Clean up your house. Ants look for food and usually make a home near a good food source. Sometimes a trashcan, a sink full of dishes or a floor full of crumbs might attract them. Make sure you wash your dishes, wipe your counters and floors with bleach, or other strong cleanings supplies and vacuum carpets. Having fire ants doesn't mean that you have a dirty house, but you might have some kind of microscopic food residue that the ants are seeing.

2. Purchase ant bait that is guaranteed to get fire ants. If you have small children or pets at home, you might want to get a gel ant bait that will be harder for your kids or pets to get at. Make sure that you read the packaging and/or instructions thoroughly.

3. Purchase a spray ant killer that guarantees to kill fire ants. Again, you want to read the packaging and/or instructions thoroughly and ensure that young kids or pets cant get to the spray.

4. Place the ant bait on or near places that you have seen large congregations of ants. Unless you have young children or pets, do not be too careful about how much and where you put bait. You want to have the ants come out as much as possible from wherever they are hiding. If you do have children or pets, make sure you put the bate somewhere that they can't reach like counters.

5. Keep an eye on the bait, when you see it swarming with ants, spray them with your ant spray. Do not spray so much that it pools, but enough to see the ants dying. This is not a one time deal. If after a few bait and spray sessions you do not see your ant problem diminishing, you might want to think about getting yourself an exterminator to do the job.

6. Get an exterminator that you've heard good things about. If you haven't ever heard of an exterminator, then go on the Internet and look one up. Usually you will be able to find feedback on the exterminator of your choice. Once you have chosen an exterminator, set up an appointment and let him or her take care of the problem for you.
