1. Socialize your whippet puppy with new experiences. Whippet puppies need to meet new people and new dogs of all ages in order to be comfortable with them when they get older.
2. Train your whippet puppy to walk on a leash. Do not allow it to pull ahead if it becomes overexcited, and praise it when it walks by your side. If it starts to pull, stand still and wait for it to stop. Whippets have a high prey drive, so do not allow it to get into the habit of chasing things.
