Feed Bulls

Bulls require a special diet, part of which should be grain and the other part grasses from grazing.

Bulls have special dietary needs. Because they are so large, mature bulls should eat about 30 to 35 pounds of food a day. They should receive most of this from fresh grazing pastures, but some of it should be mixed and given to them in their pens in the form of complete grain bull feed. It is important for the bulls to eat both grasses and grain to maintain their health.

Instructions

1. Mix the bull's feed together in a large trough or bucket using a pitch fork. This mix should be about four parts dry grain complete bull feed to one part protein ration.

2. Separate the mix into equal parts, placing each part into a large plastic bucket. Each bull should get one bucket of food.

3. Place the mix in the bull's pen.

4. Allow the bulls to graze in an open pasture for several hours a day.

5. Observe each bull's body shape to make sure that it is getting enough nutrients. Ideally, mature bulls should eat about 30 to 35 pounds of food a day, with five to seven pounds coming from the grain mixture and the rest from grazing.
