Donate Stuffed Animals To Kids In Need

Make a kid's day with your donated stuffed animals.

If you have stuffed animals that you would like to give to a good home, you can donate them to organizations that distribute them to kids in need. Although many organizations only accept new stuffed animals, a number of organizations do welcome donations of gently-used stuffed friends.

Instructions

1. Call your local police department, sheriff's department or fire department. You'd be surprised how many will accept small stuffed animals to calm children involved in accidents, accompany children en route to a hospital or soothe kids who are lost or involved in custody incidents. These stuffed animals are often kept by children as a remembrance.

2. Check to see if there is an organization that collects and distributes stuffed animals to children who have been affected by natural disasters, famine or war near you. Volunteers collect new and gently-used stuffed animals and toys to be redistributed to ambulance services, children's homes and hospitals.

3. Donate your stuffed animals to an organization that donates individual tote bags to homeless children. Each bag is filled with a security blanket, an age-appropriate book and a stuffed animal.

4. Research organizations in your community to find out if any homeless shelters, women's shelters or senior centers accept donations of stuffed animals. Many senior centers and nursing homes accept small stuffed animals as bingo prizes, and women's shelters often house children who could use a cuddly friend.
