Repel Cats From A Porch

There are many easy ways to repel cats from your porch.

Cats make great pets, but they can also be a nuisance and can present problems when they are lost or strayed. Stray and lost cats may carry disease and can even become rabid, attacking anything that comes near them. Cats also like to leave scent markings to let other cats know their territory, which many times leads to more cats coming around. If you have a problem with lost or stray cats coming onto your porch, repel them with a few simple techniques.

Instructions

1. Install an ultrasonic pet repellent on your porch. It repels cats with audible transmissions that humans and most other animals cannot hear. You can purchase it at your local pet store.

2. Plant some marigolds around your porch to repel cats. Cats are offended by the pungent smelling flowers and will stay away.

3. Spray cats with water to keep them off your porch. Fill a spray bottle with water and adjust the nozzle to squirt cats when they come close to your porch. Cats do not like water and are less likely to visit your porch if you spray them frequently.

4. Purchase a commercial cat repellent and spray it on your porch where you have seen cats frequent. You can buy cat repellents at your local pet store.

5. Position a sensor sprinkler in your yard where cats like to enter. The sprinkler will go off when the cats enter and will scare them away.
