Zoos In The Panhandle Of Florida

Petting zoos offer a chance for visitors to feed and touch the zoo animals.

Zoos in the Florida panhandle create environments for hundreds of animals to live. From exotic to local state varieties, multiple species are available for observation, including but not limited to bengal tigers, tortoises and monkeys. The zoos also have interactive shows and areas where visitors pet and take pictures with the animals.

Zoo World

With more than 260 animals, Zoo World in Panama City Beach, Florida, offers a variety of opportunities to learn about different animal species, including but not limited to bengal tigers, parrots, lions, monkeys, snakes and wolves. The Panhandle zoo also offers shows such as "Parrots in Paradise," which showcases blue and gold macaws as well as other birds performing trained behaviors. Zoo World also hosts a summer Safari Zoo Camp and birthday parties.

Gulf Breeze Zoo

The Gulf Breeze Zoo is located in Gulf Breeze off the Florida coastline near Pensacola. Hundreds of animals live at Gulf Breeze Zoo on 50 acres. The zoo includes a walking path and petting zoo with Florida gardens and observations of gorillas, zebras, beards, colorful birds and large felines such as tigers. The large petting area includes a giraffe feeding station as well as a reptile station and bat house. The Gulf Breeze Zoo created a boardwalk area, which is a raised walkway that overlooks a recreated African Preserve with free roaming dee, wildebeest and ostriches. In 2011, the Panhandle zoo also built the Katiland Train, which enables visitors to ride a train tour of the zoo.

Sasquatch Zoo

Organized by Botanical and Zoological Gardens, the Sasquatch Zoo is located in Crestview, Florida. Established in 1987 by Debbie Mattox, this small zoo is home to lion, foxes, black bear, raccoons, monkeys, skunks and deer. The zoo allows visitors to walk through the wildlife park and observe, as well as purchase Zoo Yummies to feed animals.

Alabama Gulf Coast Zoo

In Gulf Shores, Alabama, about 20 minutes from the Florida Panhandle, is the Alabama Gulf Coast Zoo. Located near the beach with more than 300 animals, including monkeys, macaws, bears, tigers, lions and reptiles, Alabama Gulf Coast has a petting zoo, reptile house, aviary and animal shows.
