The state Capitol building in Indianapolis is where public policy is decided.
The program formerly known as welfare in Indiana is now known as Temporary Assistance for Needy Families. Its purpose is to provide temporary cash assistance for needy families with children under the age of 18 when no other resources are available. TANF is just one of the ways that the people of Indiana take care of their own.
