"Pet Adoption Center" is a veterinary simulator for the Nintendo DS that is exclusively available at Toys 'R Us. In this game, you play the role of a young veterinarian who helps out at a local pet adoption center by taking care of the pets that come in for a visit. The gameplay is fairly straightforward; you're tasked with performing various jobs around the facility.
Following Directions
The first rule of the game is to follow the directions that you are given. The adoption center owners will give you various tasks, such as to feed a puppy or give a cat a bath. Do your best to complete these tasks in the order that they're given. If you take too long or try to complete other unassigned tasks, you'll fail the mission.
Performing Actions
To carry out your tasks, you must first select the animal. This will bring up a box of things that you can give the pet, such as soap for a wash or food to eat.
Interacting With Animals
Taking care of the animal's basic needs is only part of being a veterinarian. You also must keep the animals happy. Play with the animals to keep them in good spirits and communicate with the pets to make them feel loved. By using the DS stylus, you can write commands to give to the pet. You can also use voice commands to interact with it.
Knowing Your Pets
The pet adoption center comes with a research library that includes valuable information about the pets you must treat. Read the books that are available to you to learn more about the pets that you're treating. This will help you diagnose and cure various illnesses, and you'll also learn take care of specific pets.
Unlocking More Pets
When you first start out, you'll only have access to basic pets like cats and dogs. The more days you complete, the more animals you will be able to treat. After a while, you'll have access to hamsters, guinea pigs, bunnies and even deer.
