These volunteer experiences enhance a college student's resume while building their social skills. Many fraternities and sororities require members to commit their time to community involvement. These ideas range from making birthday cards for senior citizens to volunteering to photograph a nonprofit event.
Safety
Contact your local fire department or police station to offer suggestions on ways to promote safety awareness in your community. Assist authorities with their anti-drug campaigns by collecting pledges for drug-free youth, and focus on carrying this message to high school students during their prom season. Design safety literature with after-school advice and present this to day cares and elementary school children. Volunteer to help police promote bicycle safety through rodeos or by leading talks on repair bicycles. Paint over graffiti, or work with police to establish a specific wall where graffiti artists are encouraged to work. Round up several of your college pals and plant and harvest a produce garden for a homeless mission. Organize an effort among your university peers to collect used toys and clothing from everyone's families and friends to help underprivileged people. Help these nonprofit groups with any repairs to their facilities such as painting or cleaning.
