Writing dog profiles is an important part of the adoption process. Dog profiles let potential families get to know a dog before meeting him. The more detailed the profile, the better chance that more-qualified families will be interested in contacting you to learn more about adopting the dog.

Instructions
1. Make sure your dog is well groomed before taking the profile pictures. Take as many pictures of the dog as the profile listing will allow. The pictures should include the dog sitting, standing and playing, if possible. If you can only use one photo for the listing, try to get a picture where she's looking directly at the camera.
2. Describe the dog available for adoption as accurately as possible. Indicate if the dog is a purebred or mixed-breed and the dog's sex, age, weight and disposition.
Include special characteristics about the dog. For example, does the dog love to go on long walks and runs? Does he love to play fetch with a tennis ball or dog toy? Is he good with kids, and if so, what ages?
3. Let potential adoptive homes know if the dog is house-trained or crate-trained, and how long she can be left alone during the day.
4. Provide the reason for giving the dog up for adoption. If it's because the dog keeps jumping over a 4-foot fence, you should mention that a fence higher than 4 feet tall is needed in his new home. If you are working with a rescue group, provide the reason the former owners gave up the dog for adoption, if known.
