Concealed Weapons Training is a firearms course that will allow its students to carry firearms at any given point in those states that permit concealed weapons. Laws for firearms are not federally regulated, which means that each individual state decides what requirements are needed, both for those desiring to carry guns and those looking to instruct. Some state laws do not require formally trained weapons instructors, while other states require official certification by a major organization, such as the National Rifle Association (NRA).
Instructions
1. Research your state's firearm laws. Each state is allowed to legislate its own concealed weapons laws. Ascertain if concealed weapons are legal in your state. If so, learn the requirements necessary to instruct people on use weapons.
2. Enroll in an NRA training program. The NRA requires its instructors to be well-trained in all the action types of firearms. An action type refers to the mechanism that is used to fire the cartridge in a particular firearm. Some of the more common action types are pump, bolt, semi-automatic and automatic.
3. Enroll in the NRA Certified Instructor Program. This is a program that teaches you train others use firearms. Instructor training requires between 5 and 21 hours to complete, depending on state law and the types of firearms you wish to teach others to shoot.
4. Apply for business licenses. If you want to be an official instructor and make money teaching others use firearms, check your state laws to learn what licenses you'll need. Most licenses require payment of a fee.
5. Market yourself. You'll need students if you want to be an instructor. Attend NRA events, gun shows and talk to other concealed weapons instructors to learn their marketing techniques. Weapons instructors sometimes network with and refer students to one another.
