Littlest Pet Shop is a line of toys made by Hasbro that consists of 5 miniature animals that live in a tiny tree house in a little pet store. The animals are a blue dog, purple cat, pink rabbit, yellow horse and red monkey. There are many different types of Littlest Pet Shop cakes you can make for a Littlest Pet Shop party. Dog Bowl
An easy cake idea for a Littlest Pet Shop party is to make dog bowl cakes. To make this type of cake, you will need brand new, small dog bowls. Use dog bowls in colors that match the Littlest Pet Shop pets.The children will be eating the cake directly out of the bowls, so make sure they are new and clean. Cut a pound cake, angel food cake, or devil's food cake into cubes and place some cubes into each bowl. Top the cake cubes with chocolate pudding, and then add another layer of cake cubes and another layer of chocolate pudding. Top each bowl with chocolate cookie crumbles. Decorate the bowl with Littlest Pet Shop stickers, or use paint to write the name of the Littlest Pet Shop character directly on the bowl. If you prefer, you can make the cake in a large dog bowl for presentation, and then spoon some of the cake mixture into each smaller bowl while the children will watch it. They will love the idea of eating and acting like puppies.
Tear Away Cake
Tear away cakes are made by forming a shape out of cupcakes. To make a Littlest Pet Shop tear away cake, make a Littlest Pet Shop character with cupcakes. For instance, to make the Littlest Pet Shop Kitty, arrange cupcakes on a serving tray into a roundish shape. Line up 3 cupcakes, and then place 2 cupcakes above the 3 cupcakes in a pyramid style. Place a large amount of yellow icing on each cupcake and smear it together so that it looks like the cupcakes form one cake. Use a decorating bag filled with colored icing to draw on the eyes and other details of the face. Once you have placed the cupcakes on the serving tray, draw Kitty's ears in frosting onto the the tray. Tear away cakes are ideal for children's parties because the kids can serve themselves without having to cut the cake or use a fork and plate.
Full Cake
To make a Littlest Pet Shop themed cake, create a sheet cake in the shape of a Littlest Pet Shop character. Find a picture of your favorite character online or in a coloring book. Make sure the size of the picture is close to the same size, but no larger, than your sheet cake. Cut out the picture, lay it on top of the cake and use a toothpick or sharp knife to trace the pattern onto the cake. Use a serrated knife to cut the excess cake off of the edges, and then decorate the cake according to the picture. Ice the cake in the proper colors, then use an icing bag to draw on the eyes, nose, and other details of the pet.
