Instructions
1. Take some time to learn about the chihuahua as a breed. The dog's might be little, but they have great big personalities. They also have some health problems that are unique to the breed. Before you become committed to rescuing one, you need to decide if you will be able to provide the pint-sized dog with a loving home.
2. Visit the Canadian Chihuahua Rescue and Transport website. The good people involved with the organization have done an excellent job of providing all sorts of information about the breed and their organization.
3. Fill out the application for adoption. You will find it listed on the website's sidebar. Make sure that all of your answers are honest. Some of the questions are personal.
4. Based on the answers on your application, the Canadian Chihuahua Rescue and Transport will match you with one of their chihuahuas. Make sure you ask lots of questions about the dog's preferences, health, behavior and quirks. The more you know about the dog before you take him home, the better.
5. Pay the fee. The Canadian Chihuahua Rescue and Transport bases its adoption fee on the age of the dog. They charge a higher fee for younger dogs. The adoption fee is used to cover the expenses your dog incurred while under the care of the Canadian Chihuahua Rescue and Transport, and any money that is left over is used to help provide care for additional dogs.
6. Take your dog home and spend time bonding with them.
