Baby'S First Birthday Party Invitation Ideas

Design a personalized invitation for your baby's first birthday party.

Your little one experienced a number of milestones in his first year, and this year of firsts culminates with his first birthday party. Even though he probably won't remember the party, you want to throw a celebration for family and friends to honor his first birthday. Choose invitations that go along with the one-year theme, or personalize them for your 1-year-old. Select a color scheme for your invitations that matches your party d cor. Does this Spark an idea?

Number Invitation

Use the number one as the inspiration for your baby's first birthday party invitation. Cut a number one out of card stock in your party colors---you can always use blue for a boy and pink for a girl. At the top of the cut-out number, write a "first" themed poem, such as "First bath, first word, first tooth, first crawl. What a year we've had so far!" Next, your invitation can say, "Join us to celebrate Cameron's first birthday!" Then include all of the relevant information about your little one's birthday party, including the location, date and time. If you plan to serve food, ask guests to RSVP so you know how much food you'll need.

Cake Invitation

Giving the birthday girl a smash cake is a tradition at a first birthday party. This individual-sized cake is just for the birthday girl to dig into, usually with her hands. Use the smash cake theme on your first birthday party invitation as well. In your word-processing program, create a 5-by-7-inch document and include an image of a birthday cake. At the top of the invitation type, "How Sweet It Is to Be 1 Year Old! Please join us to celebrate Ava's first birthday!" List all of the details about the party. You can even add "sprinkles" to the invitation by including colorful dots all over it. Other images work with this theme as well, including a "1" candle, but limit your images to one or two.

First Initial Invitation

Use your baby's first initial as the theme for your first birthday party invitation. For example, if the 1-year-old's name is Braden, then cut a "B" out of card stock in your chosen color. Brainstorm "B" adjectives that describe your little one. Once you have a list of a few adjectives, compose a poem to open the invitation, such as: "B is for Boisterous, Bouncy and Brash. Join us for Braden's First Birthday Bash!" Let guests know when the party starts and where to show up. If you have space, you can even attach a picture of your little one to the invitation.
