Get Insurance for Multiple Pets
The pet insurance industry is booming. Many policies now cover not just the basics but x-rays, blood work and other major expenses. Getting pet insurance for multiple pets can seem expensive, however. Make sure you do the research needed to get the best multi-pet policy.
Instructions
1. Check at your vet's office. Many veterinarian offices, particularly chains such as PetsMart, have insurance policies through their on-site office. These policies are quick and easy and typically do not require any pre-policy physicals or other hurdles. These policies may be set up for multiple pets that give you a discount.
2. Look into national companies. VPI Insurance, the nation's largest pet insurance company, offers policies that range in price and scope. You can pick a policy that works for your family. Because pet insurance is not as set in stone as human insurance, you can work on deals for your family with many of the smaller companies.
3. Ask your company. Many employers are beginning to offer pet insurance as a benefit. While you likely will pay full price for the premium, versus having the company cover some of the cost, you'll be able to get a cheaper rate.
4. Talk to the people in any organization. Associations and organizations also are eligible for group discounts on pet insurance. Talk to your book club about it or start a group for animal lovers in your neighborhood. With enough people, you can get a cheaper per-pet policy from a pet insurance company.
