Most charities have your donated car towed at no expense.
When donating your vehicle to a legally recognized charity, you are allowed to deduct the charity's selling price from your federal income taxes. Charities sell the car and apply the funds toward the organization. Most organizations partner with a separate vehicle donation charity that manages the process for them.
American Diabetes Association
ADA's mission is to prevent and cure diabetes and improve lives of those who suffer the condition. The ADA runs a tax-deductible vehicle donation program accepting cars, trucks, trailers, boats and RV's. As long as the value of the car is more than the towing cost, ADA states it accepts vehicles in any condition. Vehicles are picked up in 3 to 4 business days by a professional, licensed towing company, free of charge. Public Radio and TV Donation Program
This donation program -- sponsored by NPR's "Car Talk" -- accepts vehicle donations benefiting public radio and television. They ensure your donation is tax deductible. There is no cost to the donor or station. The donor calls the program, fills out appropriate forms and sends in the vehicle Title. Your donated car is assessed for its best resale price. The majority of vehicles are sold at wholesale auctions -- and older damaged or problem vehicles are sold directly to recyclers or dismantlers for parts. The tow company picks up newer cars immediately, and they take older cars off your hands within a few days after receiving your paperwork. Gay and Lesbian Medical Association
According to its website, the Gay and Lesbian Medical Association is the oldest and largest association of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender, or LBGT, healthcare professionals in the world. The organization seeks to guarantee quality healthcare for the LGBT community. Its programs also promotes education and awareness. You can donate cars, trucks, boats, RV's, motor homes, off road vehicles, heavy equipment or most other motorized vehicles. Donations are tax deductible. You can donate a running or non-running vehicle, but Cars 4 Causes, the organization that takes care of vehicle donations for the Gay and Lesbian Medical Association, prefers the vehicle be intact.
