Green Bay has many agencies that will welcome your donation of time, money, cars and unwanted items. Donating to charity is a great way to give back to your community. Giving to charitable organizations may also have a tax-deductable benefit. Obtain reciepts for all of your donations, and consult with a tax expert to determine if they qualify as a deduction. Record travel miles to and from charitable orginazations where you have donated your time, as mileage may also be a tax-deductable donation.


Instructions


1. Determine what you have to donate. You may no longer need household items, clothing, food and furniture that you wish to donate. Donating your vehicle to charity is a great way to help others. Many agencies welcome the donation of your time to help with service projects, administrative needs and special events. Monetary donations are always welcome by all agencies.


2. Contact agencies such as The Salvation Army of Green Bay, AMVETS, Online Car Donations, Kars 4 Kids Wisconsin and local churches for a list of the items they are currently in need of. Donations of clothing and household items can be dropped off at drop boxes or local thrift stores. Pick up of your donations can be arranged by The Salvation Army, St. Vincent dePaul Society, Habitat for Humanity and AMVETS. Donations of all kinds of vehicles can be arranged online. Vehicles will be picked up at your home.


3. Contribute money to charity. All charitable organizations such as The American Red Cross, Salvation Army and AMVETS will accept cash donations. Contact the local office for the address to drop off or mail contributions to. Cash donations are used to fund service programs, conduct research, fund administrative costs and purchase needed items.
