Egg donation has become more popular in recent years. For many women, especially young mothers and college students, egg donation can be a way to bring in some extra money while not having to work at a job. 1. Meet the general requirements for egg donation. Overall, companies look for women between 20 and 29, non-smokers, height and weight proportionate with a healthy body mass index (BMI), no history of depression or mental issues, knowing the genetic background of both parents and having a high school diploma or equivalent and the ability to travel to the fertility clinic multiple times. Some companies have slightly different requirements, including letting women younger than 20 and older than 29 be egg donors.
2. Contact a local egg donation site. The Fertility ProRegistry in Charleston accepts egg donations. The West Virginia University Robert C. Byrd Health Center in Morgantown does not accept egg donations, as of 2010, but will provide information about other local egg-donation sites women who are interested.
3. Meet with the egg donation clinic for a physical exam and to begin treatment. At this point, the clinic you sign up with will lead you through the steps of egg donation, including the medications you will take and the actual egg removal.
