Someone has to lead the way
There are many student leadership camps for teenagers to build their skills and learn to become a contributor to their community. Programs vary greatly from city to city. In a more affluent area, you are more likely to find a program with a sizable fee. However, the YMCA offers affordable programs nationwide and some programs offer scholarships to worthy applicants. Always inquire directly with an organization to find out if it's the one for your teenager.
YMCA
YMCA offers 2,686 centers nationwide catering to making each community a better place for kids and adults. Most YMCAs offer a teen program of some kind. Teenagers can participate in camps, volunteer as counselors-in-training for youth programs and learn about leadership. The YMCA is, largely, a volunteer program, which is a great practice for teens to begin to learn. By giving their time, teens learn help take care of their community and make a difference.
