Downloading a virtual pet for your desktop can be an easy solution for pet lovers who deal with these obstacles to owning a pet. Instructions
1. Research websites that offer free pet desktop programs. Some suggested websites that offer free downloads are Screen Mates and Rocket Download. Both will let you download cats and dogs on your desktop. AV Digital Talking Pet and Pet Desktop Bird allow you to adopt a virtual pet bird.
2. Download the application. Some programs don't require you to install the program. Most will work on Windows XP and Vista.
3. Select "Run" or "Open" if you want to run the installer from the website.
4. Click on "Save" or "Save As" if you prefer to run the program from your computer.
5. Double-click on program or search from it from the "Start" menu to run the program.
6. Customize your pet and add optional features, such as backgrounds for your pets, tricks to teach your pet, desktop icons for your pets, and more.
