Home to only three law schools, the State of Connecticut provides potential law students with a representative cross-section of the types of law schools available across the United States. Connecticut is home to the nation's top law school in Yale University, but the state offers law school options for a diverse pool of candidates.
Yale University
Ranked the nation's top law school by "U.S. News & World Report" in 2010, Yale University is home to some of the most elite legal minds in the world. Approximately only 7.6 percent of over 3,100 applicants to the school were offered admission, with median LSAT scores of 173 and GPAs of 3.90. Graduates of the school primarily sit for the New York and California bar exams, and they boast an bar-passage rate of 92.5 percent in those highly competitive jurisdictions. Unlike most law schools, Yale does not rank students on law school performance, instead evaluating on a pass or fail basis.

University of Connecticut
Ranked as the 52nd best law school in the nation by "U.S. News & World Report," the University of Connecticut provides a public alternative to legal education in the State of Connecticut. The tier one law school accepted approximately 29 percent of applicants in 2009, making it a highly-selective school with median LSAT scores of 161 and GPAs of 3.39 for the full-time program. Part-time applicants scored median LSAT scores of 157 and GPAs of 3.48. Graduates of the law school primarily sit for the Connecticut bar exam, and they boast a 90.28 percent bar-passage rate, which is three points higher than the state average.

Quinnipiac University
Quinnipiac School of Law was established in 1990 and provides a third-tier alternative for those wishing to attend law school in Connecticut. Despite its relatively unknown reputation on a national scale, the school is received well regionally within the Connecticut area. Approximately 38 percent of applicants were admitted in 2009, with median LSAT scores of 159 and GPAs of 3.35 for full-time students, and median LSAT scores of 154 and GPAs of 3.32 for the part-time program. Graduates of the school performed well on the Connecticut bar exam, posting a success rate of 90.79 percent.
