Wash A Shih Tzu Dog

Wash a Shih Tzu Dog

The Shih Tzu, or Xi Shi quan, is a popular dog breed that originated in China. Known for their friendly temperament and silky coats, Shih Tzus are small dogs that enjoy being the center of their owner's attentions. Caring for a Shih Tzu involves daily brushing to avoid a tangled coat and frequent bathing.

Instructions

1. Prepare. Brush your Shih Tzu thoroughly to remove any tangles. Remove the dog's collar. Turn on the water in the sink and adjust to a lukewarm temperature.

2. Place your Shih Tzu in the sink and wet thoroughly using the spray attachment or, alternatively, a large plastic cup.

3. Apply the dog shampoo and massage into your Shih Tzu's coat. Make sure and reach all areas including the belly, paws and backside.

4. Rinse the dog completely. This may take several minutes, depending on the amount of fur your Shih Tzu has and how much shampoo you used.

5. Wash the head starting with the ears. Use a small amount of shampoo on a washcloth and lather up face and ears. Remove any crusty bits from the ears and around the eyes.

6. Rinse off the head but avoid soaking the ears as this can lead to infection if not dried properly.

7. Towel dry and then blow dry your Shih Tzu. Re-brush when completely dry.

8. Give your Shih Tzu a treat for being such a good dog.
