Meet Singles Outside of Bars
If you think bars are the best place to meet singles, you’re in for a surprise. Lots of people are stepping away from the crowded scene of bars and nightclubs and looking for their soulmates somewhere else. The key to meeting that special person is to be on the lookout everywhere you go. Remember that there are no rules as to when and where you two will cross paths.
Instructions
1. Follow your passion. Whether you’re passionate about pet adoption, photography or dancing, doing what you love is likely to put you into contact with others who share your interests. Not only is this a lower-pressure way to meet other singles, it’s also a step above meeting them in bars, where you don’t know if you have anything in common.
2. Have coffee instead of drinks. Coffeehouses offer a more relaxed atmosphere and allow you to start a conversation without having to shout over the loud music. Some chain coffeehouses have made it even easier to say that first “Hi” by setting up communal tables and window counters.
3. Buy a book. Or at least stop by the bookstore and browse. Anybody who visits Barnes & Noble knows that you can find dozens of young people casually sitting on the aisles, relaxing or drinking coffee, on almost any given evening. To start a conversation, simply ask a question about a book or offer a comment.
4. Walk your dog. Pets are great conversation-starters and can offer a perfect opportunity to break the ice in the park, the dog run or even the beach. Pet-lovers can also volunteer at a local shelter or join a pet-therapy program, where they will be meeting lots of new people every day while doing something good.
5. Get out. Unless it's the mailman or the cable guy, chances are your soulmate won’t come knocking on your door. Spend time outside socializing and pursuing hobbies and interests, and you will increase your chances of meeting somebody.
