National Average Salary


Nationwide, eligibility specialists earned an average of $40,900 annually, according to Bureau of Labor Statistics data published for May 2010. Local governments paid an average of $40,400 annually.


New York City Average Salaries


Among all employers of eligibility specialists in the New York City-White Plains area that includes Wayne, New Jersey, the BLS reported that, as of May 2010, the average salary was $42,570. The least well-paid 10 percent earned $29,120 or less, and the best-paid 10 percent earned $60,710 or more. In the New York City-Long Island-Northern New Jersey area, the average salary was $44,090, with the bottom 10 percent earning no more than $30,850 and the top 10 percent earning at least $61,340.


State Salary Information


The BLS reported that, as of May 2010, eligibility specialists in New York state earned an annual average salary of $43,350. In Connecticut, the average salary was $53,660, and it was $52,340 in the District of Columbia. Eligibility specialists in Rhode Island earned an average of $51,660 annually. In Maryland, the average salary was $48,010, and it was $46,750 in Maryland.
