Word A Fundraiser

Asking your friends for money is tricky.

You've already decided that the best way to help out your favorite cause - be it a cancer charity or an animal shelter - is to hold your own fundraiser. Asking your friends, family and co-workers for cash for your cause can be complicated, though. Word your request carefully to avoid offense.

Description

When asking your friends to donate money to your favorite cause, be sure to always describe exactly what your charity does and why this service is necessary. Your request should begin with a description of the cause. Briefly state the charity's needs and prior accomplishments.

Request

Once you've established exactly what it is that your charity does, it's time to ask for money. Describe an upcoming project your charity is undertaking and state that the cause needs financial support. Ask potential donors if they are able to contribute to the project.

Thanks

The most important thing to remember when wording your fundraiser is to always thank the people you solicit funds from, whether they give you money or not. Tell them that you appreciate their time and consideration and thank them in advance for any support they are able to offer.
