The Sims is a game for both video game consoles and computers that allows you to have full control over your own customized characters. All of the Sims games also allow players to create detailed houses, complete with furnishings. The Sims 2 and 3 collections also allow for players to create homes up to five stories high. Players can create a basement to serve as a lower level, making a total of six levels.
Instructions
1. Create a new lot on which to start the building. Click on the "build mode" button on the main menu. Click on the "decks & foundation" button. Make the foundation as big as you would like. The bigger the foundation, the bigger the basement will be. Delete the inner foundation by pressing ctrl + shift+ C and clicking on the inside tiles. You should be left with a hollow shape with another smaller hollow version of the shape inside it.
2. Choose a wall color to paint the two interior walls, which can be changed later if you'd like. You can find wall colors in the wallpaper section of build mode. Click on the "terrain" button in build mode and start slowly moving the terrain down in the inner-shaped basement area. Be careful not to make your basement too deep, as it will be more difficult to add a staircase. Once you have leveled out the vast majority of your basement click the "level" option within the terrain category to be certain everything is level. Add a staircase to allow your Sims to walk into the basement. You can find a variety of stair options by going to the build mode menu and clicking the staircase button. After you have found a set of stairs that you like click on that particular stair set button and move them into your basement.
3. Click the "Go up a floor" button to return to the main level. Begin building your main floor by using the wall tool in the build mode area. It is easier to see what you are building by clicking the walls cutaway option on the menu bar. Once you are satisfied with the way your main level looks continue working on the next level.
4. Press the 'Go up a floor' option. Repeat Step 3 to create this floor. If you are interested in expanding the second floor to be larger than the first you may need add pillars to support the larger level. Pillars can be found in the build mode area.
5. Repeat the process in Step 3 until you have created five levels. You will be unable to add a roof to this level; however it is a great opportunity to create a deck for your Sims. Consider creating a fence around the fifth floor by using the fence tool in the build mode area.
6. Go back and add details to each of the levels that you have created, including furniture.
