Help Endangered Pandas

Pandas need your help.

Panda bears are an endangered species. In the wild, pandas are hunted for their black and white coats. Although 61 percent of pandas live on reserves, many organizations work to increase the population. There are a number of ways you can help without getting on a plane and flying to China. Across the United States and world, there are programs that sponsor the regeneration of pandas' population.

Instructions

1. Sponsor a panda at your local zoo. Zoos are one place where pandas are bred, and at times zoos have small budgets that cannot cover the medical attention or food that is needed to keep pandas in good living conditions, so the zoos rely on donations. When people sponsor a panda at the zoo, the money goes directly to that animal in need.

2. Donate money to panda organizations such as the World Wildlife Fund, Panda Cares or Pandas International. These organizations travel around the world to promote panda well-being. Host a party or bake sale and send your earnings to the foundations, or write a personal check to the foundation.

3. Educate others on the need to protect the pandas. Although pandas are widely recognized animals, some people are not aware of panda-poaching or that these animals are near extinction. Hand out pamphlets, talk to people about the problems or wear a WWF T-shirt. Create a buzz so others know they should take the time to help as well.
