Dog Food Donations For Organizations

Donations of dog food to charitable organizations are almost always welcome. There are several ways and places to donate. By doing a little research in advance, you can have a big impact on the lives of hungry dogs with your donations.

Pet Soup Kitchens and Food Banks

One of the newest types of organizations to arise are pet soup kitchens and pet food banks. These organizations are often managed similarly to food banks for people and are effective mechanisms for distributing food to needy pets.

Animal Shelters

Many counties and cities have local animal control departments and shelters. Often, these shelters run on a shoestring budget. Donating food to a local county or city shelter provides nourishment for the dogs and frees up funds in the budget for other expenses, such as veterinary care and adoption programs.

Animal Rescue Organizations

In addition to government shelters, many areas also have smaller animal rescue organizations. These organizations are mainly non-profit organizations and rely on donations to sustain the pets in their program. Donations of dog food are almost always needed and welcome. Check with the organization before donating to be sure what you are donating meets current needs.

Donate by Clicking

Two organizations, the Animal Rescue Site and Free Kibble, donate food to shelters through online "clicking" sites. Visit the site and click the link, which leads you to a page of sponsors, and the site will use advertising dollars to purchase food for shelters. With these sites, you can't decide where the food is donated, but you can make a free donation in just a few seconds with the click of the mouse.

Donate Money to a Charitable Shelter or Organization

If you don't want to donate actual food, you can always donate money to a charitable shelter or organization. Be sure to designate that your donation is for food for the dogs and not a donation to the general operating budget of the organization.
